A young woman raised in an orphanage, now a graduate student, is falsely accused of a crime, and her youthful looks let her hide unnoticed inside a children’s home. There she meets Kristina, a homeless thirteen-year-old, and the two set out together on a long journey toward a small town in Kazakhstan where Kristina’s grandmother is said to live.
